According to a report by Glassdoor, Pittsburgh is the best city for jobs in the United States. The job and recruiting website reported that Pittsburgh has 95,399 job openings, with a median base salary of $44,000. Paired with the low cost of living and high level of job satisfaction, Pittsburgh earned the No. 1 slot on the company's list of Best Cities for Jobs.
Pittsburgh, PA named the best city in the country for jobs
Glassdoor's report considered three factors to produce the ranking:
  • Hiring opportunity
  • Cost of living
  • Job satisfaction
The data used for the report was sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau, surveys of local employees, and the Zillow Homes Value Index for All Homes.

The Top Ten Cities in the U.S. for Jobs:
  1. Pittsburgh, PA
  2. Indianapolis, IN
  3. Kansas City, MO
  4. Raleigh, NC
  5. St. Louis, MO
  6. Memphis, TN
  7. Colombus, OH
  8. Cincinnati, OH
  9. Cleveland, OH
  10. Louisville, KY
The Pittsburgh Business times noted in an article that a Glassdoor economist said in a statement that though large cities such as San Francisco and New York have thriving job markets, they were missing from the list due to the high cost of living.
