The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development released a new report that forecasts $2.7 - 3.7 billion in investments in natural gas liquid assets. This development is due to the impact of Natural Gas Liquids from the Marcellus Shale.

The development of the Pennsylvania Shell ethylene cracker plant is expected to have an impressive economic impact on the immediate area of Potter Township as well as the general Pittsburgh metropolitan area. According to The Beaver County Times, about 6,000 construction jobs are expected to infiltrate the region during construction of the plant, and another 600 permanent jobs once it starts operating.
